Responsibilities

Provides nursing care in all areas of Elizabeth Seton Children’s Rehabilitation for infants, children and adolescents.               

This position is Per Diem- hours/schedule based on the needs of the Clinic

 

Position Functions

  • Establish and maintain the following Nursing protocols   
      1. Set up medical room, height, weight, head circumference, blood pressure
      2. In charge of chart to doctor and all test ordered result
      3. Schedule outside test required by physician
      4. Pick up all orders and receive written by physician and forward to proper departments
      5. Supports infection control policies
      6. Administer medication as requested by physician
  • Assist Children’s Rehabilitation physicians as needed during medical consultations
  • Carry out bowel and bladder programs if needed
  • Coordinate Brace Clinic and Appliance Clinic (see policy for brace and appliance clinic)
  • Perform clerical duties charting, filing, getting x-rays and lab reports. Maintain patient records.  Fill out forms for procedures
  • Weight and measure children according to policy
  • Collect specimens, assist with lab work if needed
  • Is resourceful and calm in emergencies
  • Maintain standards of accurate and complete recording and reporting
  • Perform duties of charge nurse in absence of nurse manager
  • Comply with established ESCR, policies and procedures re: quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control, confidentiality of patient information, customer service, attendance, punctuality, dress code, professional conduct, annual health assessments etc.
  • Participate in all departmental in-services and staff development activities

 

Qualifications

  • Professional Nursing Registration New York State, BS Degree

Experience

  • One year of experience including working with family and children in a Special Education and/or related clinical setting
  • Bilingual preferred
