Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Vice President of Communications and Grants, the Director of Digital Media serves as lead digital strategist for the organization, supports strategic communications and marketing initiatives and works on a variety of outreach and communications projects that will advance the missions of Elizabeth Seton Children’s Foundation (ESCF), Elizabeth Seton Children’s Center (ESCC), Elizabeth Seton Children’s School (ESCS) and Elizabeth Seton Children’s Rehabilitation Center (ESCRC). This individual will help ensure the Elizabeth Seton Children’s family of organizations is viewed as an excellent and innovative provider of care, education and hope for children and young adults who live with some of the most challenging medical conditions on earth. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promotes and lives Elizabeth Seton Children’s mission, vision and Core Values as a leader and liaison within the Elizabeth Seton Children’s family of organizations

Digital and Social Media Communications & Marketing

Strategy & Content Development

  • Establishes and implements digital strategy to grow engagement and conversions across the website, email marketing and social media platforms
  • Creates and executes a content calendar that activates and advances the brand
  • Sources stories of success and good news throughout Elizabeth Seton Children’s and develops content for digital and social media, which may include: conducting interviews, writing articles, social media posts and captions and obtaining photo/video
  • Advises the Vice President of Communications and Grants and leadership on messaging 
  • Supports major marketing efforts such as digital marketing, website redesign, etc. and participates in related organization-wide initiatives including strategic planning and various high-level department meetings and committees

 

Digital & Social Media Management

  • Manages the operations of all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube) 
  • Curates and maintains the organization’s online reputation 
  • Deftly captures organic photo and video content
  • Identifies social media collaboration opportunities with community leaders and brand-safe influencers 
  • Maintains the website with the most up-to-date content and partners with the webmaster on updates to look, feel and functionality

 Analytics & Reporting

  • Tracks and reports on digital and social engagement with high-level notes on data and performance metrics
  • Makes strategic recommendations to the team based on best practices, user engagement, “social listening” and trends

Collaboration & Creative Partnerships

  • Collaborates with the organization’s PR counsel, graphic designers, photographers and videographers, as well as the organization’s Innovative Media Developer, to advance projects  
  • Independently coordinates logistics, including consents/permissions, for photo/video shoots

Brand Stewardship & Organizational Support

  • Ensures consistent representation of the Elizabeth Seton Children’s brand online
  • Develops branded materials such as PowerPoints, Canva presentations and other collateral for internal and external audiences
  • Provides support with Board Committee meetings, reports/decks, etc.
  • Organizes, catalogs and manages digital assets

Fundraising/Advancement

  • Develops on-trend, digital appeals and supporter communications to advance fundraising goals
  • Oversees the organization’s Constant Contact database to ensure consistency and effective segmentation for targeted communications
  • Supplies the Advancement team with needed photo, video and digital assets
  • Serves as an ambassador for Elizabeth Seton Children’s at on and off-site events, including fundraisers, and manages photo/video for these events, such as live social media
  • Supports fundraising efforts for third-party fundraising events and related committees, as required

Talent Management

  • Partners with Talent Management to create compelling recruitment and employee engagement content, including ads, testimonials, flyers and more
  • Supports internal communications by developing content for the employee portal to inspire, inform and align staff with the mission

Qualifications

 

Education & Qualifications Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in a relevant field; BA in Communications, English, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or a similar field
  • Minimum of five to seven years of professional communications experience, preferably in health care and/or the non-profit sector and a track record of success
  • Writing samples/portfolio required

Experience

Employee Requirements:

  • Highly motivated self-starter who is able to work independently, as well as collaboratively, in varied team settings and with many constituent groups including staff, Board Members, donors, program participants and other supporters
  • Excellent writing talents with a flexibility to adapt to the voice and style of the organization and different audiences
  • Extremely detail-oriented with superb editing (AP Style) and proofreading abilities
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills to plan projects from concept to completion
  • Excels at time management, multitasking, self-discipline and meeting deadlines
  • Very strong verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Great capacity to build internal and external relationships through interpersonal communication skills
  • An expert in a variety of social media platforms with the ability to track ROI
  • Very experienced using WordPress
  • Great experience with Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator and/or InDesign
  • Proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Possesses strong research skills related to communications, social media, digital media and more
  • Photography skills strongly preferred
  • Online communication diplomacy and rules of etiquette knowledge required, familiarity with copyright and privacy regulations a plus
  • Proactively approaches problem solving and possesses a solutions-oriented mindset
  • Enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives
  • Committed to life-long learning and the implementation of results-driven best practices

 

Working Conditions:

  • Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYS DOH and all other regulatory agencies, including adherence to safety and infection control guidelines and protocols established by Elizabeth Seton Children’s.
  • Must meet the general health requirements set fourth by the policies of Elizabeth Seton Children’s, which includes a medical and physical examination
  • Flexibility to work remotely and extended workdays as needed, including attendance at company-sponsored events.

Salary Range:

$98,000/Yr. To $120,000/Yr.
