Responsibilities

 

Purpose of Your Position

  • Determines presence or absence of hearing loss; improves communication function in those patients with hearing loss, in collaboration with other medical and non-medical staff
  • Contributes to revision and development of programs to meet the changing needs of the patient population and the institution

Position Functions and Responsibilities

1.      

Understands and promotes Elizabeth Seton Children’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure application with organizational policies and procedures.

2.      

Determine appropriate diagnostic and evaluative procedures and provides differential diagnosis of auditory disorders for in-patients and out-patients, including ABR and ENG as needed

3.      

Communicates results of evaluations and recommendations to patients and/or their families; other personnel, including but not limited to physicians 

4.      

Provides hearing aid evaluation to determine best amplification device for patients who may benefit from a hearing and/or other amplification system

5.      

Consults with referring physician   

6.      

Engages in continuing education to maintain currency with theory and practice in Audiology and related areas 

7.      

Provides in-service education to educate other professional about the scope and practice of Audiology

8.      

Monitors calibration and servicing of Audiology equipment

9.      

Prepares written reports which integrate objective test data with functional performance and medical status, and disseminates reports as appropriate, maintains records according to department policy

10.   

Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to age specific needs of the patients served.  This includes an understanding of the principles of individual growth and development over a life span, and the ability to interpret data relevant to the patients’ age-specific needs

 

11.   

Comply with established CRC, Inc. policies and procedures re: quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control, confidentiality of patient information, customer service, attendance, punctuality, dress code, professional conduct, annual health assessments etc.

12.   

Participate in all departmental in-services and staff development activities as appropriate

13.   

Performs other duties as may be requested

Qualifications

Educational & License Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Audiology.
  • Current NYS license and registration in Audiology or eligibility of licensure. Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology.
  • Minimum of 3 clinical years Audiology experience, post Master’s Degree.
  • NPI Number required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 clinical years Audiology, post Master’s Degree.
  • Competence in Audiology.

Employee Requirements:

  • Delivery of audiological services for children from 0-21
  • Evaluation services
  • Consultant to referring physician
  • Participation in in-service training
  • Job related department responsibilities
  • Personality compatible with the need to maintain on-going interaction with CRC, Inc. staff, children, parents, and the Children’s Rehabilitation Center.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Audiology Suite, therapy areas and medical offices.
  • Must meet or exceed all general health standards and requirements for the position as established by employer in compliance with NYSDOH and other regulatory agencies if appropriate
  • Must be able to stand and move freely while treating and supervising patients
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of patients as necessary

Hourly Rate:

$100.00/Hr.
