Responsibilities

      Purpose of Your Position

Provide occupational therapy services to preschool and school age children for an assigned caseload and conduct occupational therapy assessments and evaluations. This position is Per Diem- hours/schedule based on the needs of the school.

Position Functions and Responsibilities

  1. Provide mandated services to assigned children on caseload in compliance with IEP documents.
  2. Participate in consultations with education staff and the multidisciplinary team concerning the needs of each child as related to his/her mandated services and progress updates.
  3. Work effectively with parents, teaching staff and other professionals directly involved in the care and treatment of the child to develop and monitor IEP services.
  4. Use accurate assessment skills to perform functional evaluations with reports reflecting current knowledge and evidence based practices and communicate results effectively in both written and verbal formats.
  5. Maintain accurate record keeping and IEP goal tracking documentation as required by SED and ESCS policies for quality assurance and accountability purposes.
  6. Carry out standards for customer service; quality improvement; professional development; environmental, safety and infection control practices; confidentiality, corporate compliance and all other ESCS policies and procedures; attend all mandatory in-services to ensure regulatory compliance and best practices in working with students and their families.
  7. Perform other tasks to support the operations of the school as assigned by School Administration.

 

 

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree
  • NYS OT License
  • NYS OT Certification

Experience

  • New Graduates with Pediatric experience considered.

Employee Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written); good problem-solving skills; strong organizational skills; ability to relate to families and work collaboratively with other agency representatives.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently.
  • Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies.
  • Must meet the general health requirements set fourth by the policies of ESCS which includes a medical and physical examination.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
  • Perform tasks that may involve exposure to the children’s blood/body fluids.
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of children if necessary.
  • Must hold valid drivers license and be able to travel safely throughout community.

Working Conditions:

  • Will work in a well-lighted and ventilated area.
  • Will be subject to frequent interruptions.
  • May be asked to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.

Hourly Rate:

$60/Hr.
