Elizabeth Seton Children’s Center is a pioneering provider of care, education and hope for children with some of the most challenging medical complexities any person can face. Featuring the largest long term residential medical center of its kind in the United States.

 

This is a Part Time- 3 Days Per Week Salaried, exempt Physical Therapist staff position.

Providinge evaluation, individual treatment to assigned residents. Complete all necessary documentation to (evaluations, progress notes, discharge summaries, adaptive equipment justification letters, etc.) attend and report at all care plan meetings. Provide clinical supervision to PT students. Consult with other disciplines and family as necessary.

 

 

 Position Functions

  • Understands ESCC Mission and Core Values and incorporates values into daily practice.
  • Provide evaluation and treatment to residents with a variety of medical diagnosis.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing evaluation of resident’s, upon request of physician.
  • Provide all necessary documentation i.e. evaluations, progress notes, annual reviews and discharge summaries for resident on therapy caseloads.
  • Responsible for providing monthly PT statistics in a timely fashion.
  • Coordinate PT treatment programs with other interdisciplinary staff to provide continuity and consistency of care.
  • To monitor proper maintenance of existing (i.e. orthotics, adapted chairs, etc) adaptive equipment with other team members. Refer to adaptive equipment policy and procedures for details and clarifications.
  • To report on child’s level of function, progress at the interdisciplinary staff meetings i.e., Physiatry meetings, Plan of Care and Orthopedic clinic.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with family and other interdisciplinary staff as appropriate to resident care.
  • Participate in and contribute to in service training programs.
  • To serve as clinical instructor when PT Student(s) affiliate at the Center.
  • To provide therapy sessions in the hydrotherapy pool program on a rotational basis to residents, once CPR certified.
  • To continually upgrade skills through attendance at professional seminars and courses.
  • Assist in the in-service education of the interdisciplinary staff on an ongoing basis.
  • Assist in the in-service education of the interdisciplinary staff on an ongoing basis.
  • To establish a relationship and communication with outside school therapists treating our children and disseminate the information to all specific care meetings. Including, Plan of Care, Orthopedic Clinic, Wheelchair Clinic, and adapted equipment clinic.
  • Carry out standards for customer service; quality improvement; professional development; environmental, safety and infection control practices; confidentiality, corporate compliance and all other Center policies and procedures; attend all mandatory in-services to ensure regulatory compliance and best practices in working with residents and their families.
  • Maintain daily attendance records, progress notes, initial evaluation and treatment programs, resident schedules, and complete and provide monthly statistics.
  • Attend all interdisciplinary meetings in accordance with the policies at the Center.
  • Provide update progress on resident’s care plan and report to team at Plan of Care and Physiatry meetings.
  • To provide home visit evaluation/assessment necessary for discharge or for any other relevant situation.
  • Participate in the New Hire Orientation Program providing educational programs on a variety of topic including but not limited to: wheelchair safety, seating and positioning, transfers.
  • Perform other duties as necessary and as directed by your supervisor, department director, and/or administrator.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • Master’s degree or doctorate in Physical Therapy
  • NYS P.T. License
  • NYS P.T. Certification
  • CPR Certification preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of pediatric PT experience Preferred
  • Completion of a pediatric clinical affiliation

Salary Range:

$82,000.00/Annual - $90,000.00/Annual
