Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

Perform the installation of desktop applications and computer hardware.  Diagnose and resolve systems problems as they relate to the desktop hardware, operating systems or the application software installed or operated from desktop computers.  Provide technical support for approved applications, including training.  With supervision, perform basic systems administrative functions such as the creation of domain and email accounts, support user file/folder permissions, perform server backups and simple user directory restores, and monitor overall systems performance.  Identify needs for assessing the scope of projects and coordinating the implementation of systems. Document PC and applications configurations, deployment, and inventory. In performing daily tasks, the employee has regular access to printed and electronic files containing sensitive data which he/she will protect under the provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974. The employee is responsible for: 1) protecting data from unauthorized release or from loss, alteration, or unauthorized deletion; and, 2) following applicable laws and instructions regarding access to computerized files, access codes, etc. as stated in a computer access agreement which each employee signs.

  • Perform the installation, support and maintenance of computer hardware and software. This would include, but not be limited to: applying updates and fixes, password administration, making network connections, providing network and systems access, establishing and restricting user rights, etc.
  • Provide problem determination, definition and resolution stemming from systems problems reported by system users.
  • Identify the need for changes regarding procedures that relates to the integration of computers, software, and workflow in support of systems.
  • Train computer users (one-to-one) in the general operation and maintenance of the personal computers and related software.
  • Assists in the testing of all new and changed software to ensure Quality Control and performance standards are met.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and makes necessary adjustments to the environments to ensure peak performance.
  • Coordinate office moves and the associated equipment install or re-installs with end-user departments and other Information Services functions.
  • Researches the effects of non-supported software upon the system and the efficient operation of daily activities.
  • Operates within the Center’s guidelines for handling software and hardware maintenance and support. Conducts initial analysis of problem and follows the Center’s procedure for the handling of software and hardware problems.
  • Promotes and coordinates the personal computer user groups in such a manner that associates needs are met through constructive discussions and problem solving.
  • Provides installation and training support for functional additions to the Pediatric Center’s Information Systems that effects the facilities computer environment. Participates in the evaluation and planning of both current and future projects.
  • Prepares and maintains required records (i.e., inventory, help desk tickets, etc.).
  • Maintain positive and supportive relationships with outside departments and adhere to corporate technical standards and directives.
  • Remains abreast of new developments in the area of personal commuting by participating in continuing education programs/conferences, and by review of the literature and periodicals.
  • Interacts with all associates, guests, and physicians in a courteous, respectful, and friendly manner.
  • Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by your supervisor, department director, and/or administrator.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • Associates degree in computer science or related field. Microsoft certification desired.

Experience

  • 3-5 years technical experience LAN and network management environments.
  • Specific experience managing the Microsoft desktop and server environment

Salary Range:

$62,000/Yr. To $70,000/Yr.
