This is a Per Diem Pharmacist opportunity- coverage needed within Monday-Friday 10a-6p

 

The Pharmacist will provide pharmaceutical services in accordance with federal, state, local standards and the policies and procedures of the Pharmacy department of the Pediatric Center. Responsibilities will include assisting the Director of Pharmacy in providing quality pharmacy services to all the residents of the Pediatric Center. Including but not limited to:

 

  • Fill and dispense prescriptions.
  • Provide consultation on all aspects of pharmacy services and medication information to staff, residents and families.
  • Profile patient orders to computer system.
  • Print accurate physicians’ order sheets and medication administration records.
  • Properly stores medications, chemicals and biologicals.
  • Assist Director in the ordering of medications, chemical and biologicals.
  • Assist in the maintenance of inventory by removing expired medications and rotating stock.
  • Inspect nursing units and reports problems to Pharmacy Director.
  • Package medication for use on the nursing units.
  • Pick up orders and deliver medications to the nursing units.
  • Participate in department quality improvement activities as indicated.
  • Compound medications using special formulations in pharmacy compounding book and keep records of compounded prescriptions.
  • Replenish floor stock medications for nursing units and other departments.
  • Assume responsibility for the operation of the department in the absence of the director.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the pharmacy’s and Pediatric Center’s policies and procedures.
  • Verify and replace medication orders for medications provided from the night cabinet by the nursing supervisor when the pharmacy is closed.
  • Maintain a communication log on all consultations regarding medication orders and food-drug interactions.
  • Must have at least 45 hours of continuing education completed every 3 years. At least 23 of those credits must be for live CE programs.
  • Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by your supervisor, department director, and/or administrator.

Qualifications

  • Education Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s or Pharm. D degree in Pharmacy

Experience

 

  • 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or long-term care institution as a pharmacist
  • Must have a basic knowledge of unit-dose, drug interactions, appropriate use of pharmacy references, dosages, and pharmaceutical calculations
  • Must have knowledge of the laws and regulations governing the practice of Pharmacy in New York State

Salary:

$75.00/Hr.
